Urgent Q/C Bulletin on  hubs (wheel bearings)!

During routine annual maintenance, I replaced all four on 038 as did the owner of 026. The owner of 026 found the beginning of a failure after we both ran at Daytona last month. I took that part and compared it to my p/n and found an exact match and both marked "Made In China". I took both parts, along with a spare ORIGINAL Chrysler part to a very well known circle track parts manufacturer/supplier for his analysis and he said the reason the Chinese part failed was because of the process used to press them together. He praised the Chrysler part because of the way it is assembled. Yesterday (Jan 16, 2008) I went to the local Chrysler dealer to inspect the OEM part and found it to be the same part/process that was said to be superior to the Chinese part.

The correct OEM Chrysler part number is 04340334 (Same as Chinese Part).

Here is your clue: If your hubs were ordered from any auto parts store or on-line source, look at the surface where the bearing was pressed into the hub, if it has a blue tinted ring, similar to an overheat look, you have the preferred OEM. If you do not have the blue tinted ring you probably have the same junk part we purchased, then removed, and threw in the trash. An expensive mistake....................but correctable.

Note: The Shelby's that currently run in S. Africa have their own design that appears even better than the OEM Chrysler unit. Cost and availability is the unknown.
