Dalton Zehr Sets a New
Shelby
CAN-AM Track Record At Daytona
ShelbyCANAM.com and Bob
Johnston teamed with Dalton Zehr and Dalton Zehr Racing www.daltonzehr.com
at Daytona's 24 hour track September 29-30 to expand Dalton's road
racing experience and comply with SCCA's four race requirement for his
regional license.
Dalton drove SCA chassis 059, former Gene Harrington car (which still
has the original engine seals from the Pro Series) to qualify 5th
overall in a field of over fifty GT1, GT2, SPO and three other Shelby
CAN-AM cars. In
Sunday's feature race, Dalton set a new Shelby CAN-AM track record of
2:04.021 which eclipsed the old record of 2:04.695. Ironically, Jack
Willes, holder of the old record for the last thirteen years, was at the
track to witness his old record fall. Willes offered his congratulations
to Zehr but indicated the current record may not stand long. Willes is
in the final stages of restoring SCA chassis 001 and will be back on the
circuit in the near future.
Congratulations to Dalton for another impressive drive.
