Shelby Can Am

Autobahn Country Club

August 23rd - 26th, 2007

Except for a few gusts of wind at 70-80 mph, a local tornado, flooded track (and surrounding corn fields), muddy pit and a destroyed awning on Wally Gerhardt's transporter, all went fairly well.

Augie Pabst, in his original chassis 019, was the fastest of the SCA's, followed closely (some say too closely) by Jess Heitman (028, former Sam Schmidt car), Austin Armellini (069, former Jimmy Chianis), Art Armellini (026 from the original Shelby brochure and Bud Clark car), Wally Gerhardt (068, former Alan Polackwich car) and Dr. Jack Dunn (063, former Chris Horn car). Bob Johnston's 038 suffered an undetermined drive line vibration and did not compete in the feature race.

We had a total of 12 cars either racing or on display at the HSR/Autobahn Reunion. Copies of the photos below can be obtained by contacting Bob at info@shelbycanam.com. Additional photos will be posted on the HSR website at www.hsrrace.com in the future.

We wish to thank (in chassis number order) Doug Cohee, Augie Pabst III, Art Armellini, Brian and Judi Bennett, Jeff Tyler, Beau Martin, Jack Dunn, Austin Armellini and Wally Gerhardt for bringing their cars to this wonderful event.

Additionally, we want to thank all the crews that kept the mud at bay on Thursday and Friday and kept the cars running throughout the weekend. Hats off to Rick Kirby, Bob Lucas, Tom Grove, Chris and Jody Johnston, Gina, Greg, Bill, Tyler, Chas and Wally Peck for their team work and tireless support.

Thanks to all for making this event a success.

Bob Johnston
